The BEST Spaghetti Meat Sauce

January 12, 2021

This quick and easy but mouth-watering spaghetti meat sauce only takes a bit of time to prepare, it’s so flavorful and meaty and the whole family will love it!

You will never look at spaghetti sauce the same way again. I’ve been making this sauce for the past 5 years and I can attest to the fact that it’s the BEST meat sauce ever!! This meat sauce gets made at least every other week at our house. My youngest son LOVES this meal and it’s by far one of my most loved recipes.

Skip the jarred store bought sauces and try this hearty, flavorful meat sauce! Super simple ingredients, no preservatives, and it freezes really well. It’s become a staple food that I make again and again because it takes so little time but everyone will think the sauce simmered the day away! 😉 Serve with fresh pasta, zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash or for a quick lasagna sauce.

This spaghetti meat sauce is the perfect pairing with my Fluffy Homemade Breadsticks.

Yield: 6-8 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons green relish
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced onion or 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 29 oz. can whole peeled tomatoes, not drained
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cook ground beef, garlic and salt over medium high heat until the meat is no longer pink. Crumble up the beef well as it cooks. Drain the meat to avoid greasy sauce.
  2. Add the next 11 ingredients to a food processor or blender and pulse until you reach the consistency you like. We love ours smooth so I pulse it well.
  3. Add the cooked ground beef and sauce to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn heat down to medium low and let it simmer for 25 minutes.
  4. Mix the water and cornstarch. Add it to the meat sauce, slowly.
  5. Once the sauce has thickened, serve over cooked pasta, topped with fresh parsley and fresh parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
