Gumdrop Nougat

February 10, 2022

This easy no-bake Gumdrop Nougat is such a fun treat! And slightly addicting. 😉 It’s an old style classic with a creamy taffy-like texture and will take you right back to your childhood.

I made these for the first time for our family Christmas a few months ago. We’ve had this fun tradition for years where my mom and each of my sister’s families bring 4-5 different squares/treats. The night before we all leave to go home, whatever is leftover, we share amongst everyone. 🙂 The chaos that revolves around this specific evening is almost my favorite. The ridiculous jokes and belly laughs are always the perfect ending to our Christmas vacation! Each year I try to make a couple of treats that are new to everyone and this gumdrop nougat was one of them. They were a HUGE hit and as a matter of fact, when there were only a few pieces left, my dad hid them to have all to himself. LOL! If you know my dad, that is the best compliment without him having to say anything. Ha! I’m going to be seeing him this month and I can’t wait to surprise him with some! Expressing my love to my wonderful dad, with food, is my favorite way to his heart. 😉

I mixed some red and pink gummy hearts into these lil gems to keep it fun and add a little Valentine’s flair. Making this well-loved nougat candy is much easier than you may think! Your biceps will most definitely be getting a work out but the end result is so worth it!!

Ingredients for Gumdrop Nougat

  • Mini Marshmallows
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Gumdrops – I used these gummy hearts from Bulk Barn
  • Butter

The pink and red gummy hearts are a festive stir-in, but they’re only available for a limited time at Bulk Barn. But no worries if you can’t find the heart gummies version. You can always sort your desired colors from a mix of gumdrop candies.

This easy candy recipe is so fun to eat and even more fun to share with friends, neighbors and family.

Yield: 60 pieces

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 bags of white chocolate chips (225 gram bags)
  • 500g of mini marshmallows
  • 2 cups chopped pink and red gummies

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Line a 9 x 9 baking pan with parchment paper and spray the bottom and sides with baking spray.
  2. Cut the gummies in half. Set aside.
  3. Create a double boiler by putting a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water (making sure that the bowl and pan fit together tight). Melt the butter, white chocolate chips and marshmallows together over indirect medium heat.
  4. Keep stirring the mixture until it is fully melted and smooth, making sure not to cook the mixture. Immediately remove it from the heat. Set it aside for 2-3 minutes to cool.
  5. Add the gummies and fold them into the marshmallow mixture, then transfer it into your prepared baking pan. Use a lightly greased sheet of parchment paper or spatula to spread the nougat to the pan corners in an even layer.
  6. Refrigerate the nougat for 2 hours, but preferably overnight to fully set up.
  7. Cut into 60 pieces and store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
  8. Enjoy!
